Community centers (‘Chitalishta’) in the province have joined forces to support Burgas’ bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2032. At a working meeting organized by the Burgas 2032 Foundation and the Burgas Regional Community Center Council, community center representatives discussed ideas for joint initiatives to showcase the cultural diversity, heritage and the creative potential of the region.

A “summer reading room”, “holiday night at the library”, drum orchestra and digital clubs are just some of the activities that cultural centers in the region use to attract children and adults. The participants supported the idea of preserving the memory, traditions and spirit of the region, in combination with increasingly contemporary forms of art, as keys to cultural development and the success of the Burgas 2032 initiative.

This meeting is just the first step in collaborating with community centers in relation to Burgas’ candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2032, commented the deputy mayor of Burgas Municipality, Diana Savateva, and the chairman of the Regional Community Center Council – Burgas, Kolyo Nikolov.
